Shelly Ganz, who sadly passed away last January, recorded an amazing last album with The Unclaimed most recent line up, entitled Creature of the Maui Loon. From catchy light-hearted Bubblegum-Country-Garage songs to fuzz and primitive rhythms cadence, the new album lands halfway sonicly between the style of both the band’s milestone LPs. Once again influences include Texas Garage Punk greats like The Zakary Thaks and The Syndicate Of Sound, with hints of dark sounds reminiscent of The Doors and even echoes of Tiki atmospheres and Surfy reverbs. Fans of the classic Nuggets compilations as well as The Cramps will be delighted by Ganz’ last effort, possibly his most complete work. His ‘Creature’ will live on, like his memory.
